Unfinished Memoir
There's something about reading a memoir that just sucks me in. I love to read about the things a person has been through to reach where they are... I love to see how each of us interprets the various situations life throws at us. I also love the fact that no matter how mediocre or glamorous someone's life has been, the underlying emotions are always the same....
As for this particular memoir, I just randomly bought it cuz it was on sale and ended up really enjoying it. I've literally grown up watching her films and being fully aware that she's an amazing actress. But other than that, knew very little about her and neither was I interested (It's a me thing... I'm never much interested in celebrities
The writing was very simple and straightforward....nothing heavy or pretentious. Yes, I prefer memoirs which are more raw and more focused on the inner journey whereas this one had more facts.... I craved more depth and maybe more drama (?) which isn't fun to admit but to be honest, I think it's one of the reasons we enjoy memoirs or autobiographies (or maybe that's just me again)
Anyways, the point is that this book made me accept that maybe not everyone needs to tell their story in a dramatic way or analyze every feeling or emotion. Some of us are okay with narrating our stories in a straight forward way and appreciate those who are able to do that....doesn't make their experiences any less real.
